Gilli Ret Sahil Di Jahi Sajjri Thakavat Nu,
This fresh fatigue is like the wet sand from a shore; I dry it with the wind;

Suka Ke Paun Naal; Pairan Ton Raati Jhāṛ Ke Sauna!
Then brush it from my feet & retire to sleep.

Aah Jehṛe Valvale Subha Ton Shaaman Teek Daurre Si,
All those restless impulses that raced from dawn till dusk;

Unhan Nu Aas Vale Astabal Vich Waar Ke Sauna!
I lead them into the stables of hope & let them rest.

Painde Saar Hi Akhan Na Meetan, Haazri Lavaan!
The moment I lie down, I do not close my eyes; I first make my presence known!

Apni Surat Naal Hasti Nu Mud Vaakif Vi Karvaavaan!
I acquaint my being once again with my own awareness.

Duaale Chupp Hai Eni Ki Saanu Sun Reha Saah Vi;
Such silence surrounds me that even my own breath seems to be listening to me;

Te Chaanan Chaudvin Da Vi; Chubaare Chaaṛv Ke Sauna!
and I lift the full moonlight of the fourteenth night into my upper chamber & drift into sleep.

Eh Mainu Sobhde Baahle, Mire Aaṛi Jo Raatan De!
These companions of the night are so befitting to me;

Miri Jaago ‘Ch Eh Dive Ne Asmaani Paraatan De!
In my wakefulness, these are the lamps of celestial platters.

Duaale Vigsde Aalam Di Chhoti Baat Jahi Pa Ke;
I whisper a little tale of the world blossoming around me;

Te Lambi Tik-Tiki La Ke; Main Taare Taaṛ Ke Sauna!
Then, holding a long, unwavering gaze, I watch the stars & finally surrender myself to sleep.

Baṛe Khush-Khulk Jugnu Jo Mere Khetaan Ton Aaye Ne!
The fireflies that have come from my fields are wonderfully warm-hearted;

Ihnan Ne Naal Mere Kanak Nu Paani Luaae Ne!
They have helped me water the wheat, alongside me.

RishteDaariyaan Si Milan Aa ‘Ge Shehar Nu; Aidan
We have such a unique relationship, so they had come to the city to visit me!

Eh Ruttaan Kaashni Rang Ke Main Raatan Raaṛh Ke Sauna!
This is how I dye these seasons in a purple hue, stir the nights into the full roast & sleep!

Eh Hujra Soch Da, Eh Zikr, Eh Taaṛi Khayaalaan Di!
This chamber of contemplation, this remembrance, this vigil of thought;

Ki Saanu Kudrataan Ne Shai Niri Bakhshi Kamaalaan Di!
Nature has bestowed upon me nothing but wonders upon wonders !!

Ji Phir Main Be-Khudi ‘Te Laal Jahi Ik Leek Haan Vaahunda,
Then, upon the canvas of unconsciousness,

Te Jo Nahi Dekhne Chaahunda Oh Supne Saaṛ Ke Sauna!
I draw a red line upon the dreams I do not wish to see, burn them away & sleep!

Jadon Is Zehan Naal Madhoshiyan Da Khel Hunda Ae!
When intoxications begin their play within this mind,

Kise Baahri Khidone Ton Oh Kithon Mel Hunda Ae!
Any toy from the outer world can not match that!
